Makepeace, Kelly - Principal

I am honored to serve as the first principal of Washington Elementary School. Originally from Newark, Delaware, I attended East Carolina University, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, completed the NC Principal Fellows Program with a master's degree in School Administration, and later earned my Doctorate in Education. Now in my 17th year in education and 13th year in school administration, I have served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal across eastern North Carolina and was honored to be named Beaufort County Schools Principal of the Year for 2018–2019. My husband, our three children, and our three dogs are proud to call Washington home, and we enjoy spending time at the beach and cheering at football and volleyball games. I am passionate about creating a joyful school community where every child feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential. I am excited to lead the Little Pack as we build bright futures together.
